Shannon Waite, Human Resources Manager from the NYC Department of Education, will be on campus to walk NYU students through the process of applying and interviewing for positions in elementary, middle and high schools throughout the city. If you are graduating in 2009 and plan to teach in NYC – it is highly recommended that you attend this session.

First Draper Meeting of Fall 2008 Monday, September 15, 2008

The meeting will introduce the officers and the community service ventures for this semester. The meeting will include a pizza lunch as well as a fun documentary viewing after opening words. The documentary will be an episode of the Discovery Channel show, Mythbusters. Please note: If you have a lab or class that conflicts with part of the meeting, don’t feel like you can’t attend the meeting if you need to leave early or will be late. You’re welcome to join us, regardless of how long you can stay.

12:30-1:30 in Room 808, we will be holding official elections for the coming year. You’ll get a chance to hear from the nominees, ask them questions, and then vote!
And in typical Draper fashion, pizza for everyone!
In case you can’t make it, here are all the candidates’ written statements. You may vote by absentee ballot, just send Ryan an email at rgh234@nyu.edu with your choices. We will be having a meeting this coming Thursday (3/27) to discuss opportunities to get involved in our community service efforts, tutoring and helping local high schools in the sciences. The meeting is as usual in Silver 808 at 12:30 pm. Pizza (with toppings!) and soda a plenty.
If you cannot make the meeting, but are interested in getting involved, please e-mail Garrett Lew at garrett@drapersociety.org. We will be sending out a description of the volunteer work following Thursday’s meeting for those interested in more details. We would love all the help we can get, this is a great opportunity and a wonderful service we can provide as top-notch science students.
