Draper Society Elections - Applications Due Weds April 22nd Monday, April 20, 2009

Hey guys. It’s election time again at Draper Chemical Society! Being on the Draper E-board is a great way to get to know other chemistry students and professors better, and you’re sure to impress grad/medical schools by showing your leadership.

If you’re interested in running for any of the following positions, email me (rahul@DraperSociety.org) by WEDNESDAY APRIL 22ND, 11:59PM.

Please include the subject line [Draper Elections], and the following in your application:

Why are you a good fit for this position (100 word blurb):

The elections will be held this Thursday, April 23rd, at 12:30pm in Kimmel 908. Your blurbs will be distributed at the meeting and over the Listserv. If you would like to run but cannot make the meeting, let me know; someone will read out your blurb in lieu of your speech.

Absentee ballots will be accepted until 11:59PM on Thursday.

Here are the positions:

President:

-          Organize lecture series/meetings

-          Organize ACS National Chemistry Week & Undergraduate Research Fair

-          Delegate to other E-board members/appoint committees as necessary

-          Logistics (i.e. getting rooms/equipment)

-          Cooperate with other science clubs at NYU

-          Attend CAS Club Council Meetings

Vice-President:

-          Handle Listserv/Announcements

-          Webmaster (Knowledge of WordPress/PHP/CSS is a plus)

-          In charge of tutoring programs at School of the Future, University Neighborhood High School, and NYU (including exam review sessions)

Treasurer:

-          Write a budget proposal (with the assistance of the President) to be submitted to the CAS Student Council

-          Keep track of the budget and money spent

-          Go to Treasurer’s Meetings held by Student Council Treasurer

-          Collect receipts and submit reimbursement forms

Secretary:

-          Keep records of meetings/attendance

-          Record and distribute the minutes of E-board meetings

-          Keep files of outgoing emails, sign-up sheets, and budget information

-          Manage the acquisition of refreshments/pizza
