Posted by Garrett Lew in : Announcements,Jobs , trackbackThe following is a message from John Wilson Jr. of the NYC DEP HazMat: There are job openings for students that have (or about to graduate with) a BS, BA, MS, MA or Ph.D in our Emergency Response Unit. We are looking for Chemists, Chemical Engineers, BioChemists and related fields of study (environmental engineering, biology, environmental science/ studies, toxicology, forensic science, physics, biomedical engineering – they must have a minimum of 16 credits in chemistry, and must be a US citizen or have a working green card – student visa’s are not acceptable) . NYC DEP HazMat is the New York City leader in response to Hazardous Materials incidents. The NYC DEP HazMat Unit has the responsibility under the New York City CISM document to Identify, Mitigate and Enforce the City Hazardous Materials Laws at Hazardous Materials Incidents within the five Boroughs. NYC DEP HazMat is a unique group of Scientist, and engineers that help keep our City safe. I have attached a job description as a word document. Please send it to any students that are close to graduation or who have already graduated. Please send me a contact in your University’s Career Center so this may be available for all interested students. I will also post the positions available on your College/University job library or website. Job DescriptionI would also like to set up an appointment this Friday 3/20/09, Monday 3/23/09, Tuesday 3/24/09, Monday 3/30/09, or Tuesday 3/31/09 so that I may visit your school and discuss the job openings with the students at your College / University. Please let all qualified students know about this opportunity, there are 10 – 20 positions available. They can send me their resumes and I will deliver them to the division executive director. They will be called for an interview shortly after, and start working if they are hired after they graduate.
