Last Chance to Help Out with cSplash Tuesday, March 11, 2008

Hello Undergraduates!

We are nearing that time when cSplash really starts to get rolling, and in order to keep it going, we have a few more jobs for which we need people. If you would like to get involved with csplash, there are still plenty of opportunities, ranging from mega-projects (none listed here, but you can ask) to simple one-hour-long commitments. Here are the opportunities:


1. Day-of-Volunteers

We need people to help with all kinds of things throughout the day, including morning registration, staffing the information desk, hanging out in the lounge and dealing with any problems that come up, handing out lunch, patrolling the halls, time-policing the classrooms, etc. If you have an hour or two and can help with any of these, please email mirandaholmes@yahoo.ca with your name, time(s) you are free, and maximum amount of time you want to volunteer (eg you can say “I’m free all day”, but also “please don’t sign me up for more than 2 hours of shifts!”). Also let me know if there’s anything in particular you really want to help with.

2. FUN (Fun Un-Math).

Yes, this really is as fun as it sounds! We need people to run non-math activities in the lounge, throughout the day. Some things that happened last year are paper airplane contests, origami, juggling, and lots of games, of course. Also, it is really effective just to have college students circulating around the lounge all day, facilitating conversation with the high school students. The goal is to entice the students not to take classes all day. If you have something you want to run, or if you want to help decorate the lounge the night before cSplash, email Jessica Lin at jessicalin@nyu.edu.

3. Pictures

We need several people to take pictures throughout the day, and we need one person to be in charge of collecting the pictures after and choosing the good ones and putting them on the website. Email mirandaholmes@yahoo.ca if you are interested in any of these. This is your last chance to help out with cSplash. Don’t miss out! It’s a really fantastic day :-)
